trash

The inevitable, un-recyclable, un-usable breakdown of our consumption. Every 2 weeks the truck comes by to pick up our recyclables, and the day before we go through everything, separating, dividing and getting a real good look at our waste. I find this process to be incredibly valuable, I feel personally responsible for my trash when I interact with it, reading each label and knowing where it's going, knowing how i can improve.

PHASE 1

our first 2 weeks of this project, this is our deposit to the land fill. (except i did keep the Almond Breeze box, more to come on that later)

PHASE 2

 2 weeks later.
ah yes, the painting tape! we've painted just about every wall in the house...miles and miles of this stuff we had to just throw away!

PHASE  3

ok, I like this, a noticeable reduction!! IT'S WORKING! not even a full box this time. 2 weeks for a family of 4 + one visitor for a week...not too bad!
and here on the right is the whole thing. clockwise from top center is all the recyclables, lower right is our plastic collection (due for a different recycle pick up 1x year), bottom center is the paper stuff that can't get recycled, but can be composted, and lower left is the same box of pure trash from above.
